PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The Pawtucket Red Sox (26-35) dropped their fourth-straight game on Saturday night at McCoy Stadium, falling to the Rochester Red Wings (26-33) by a final of 6-1.
Drew Maggi continued his torrid pace, homering for the third time over the last two games. Three of Maggi's six long balls on the season have come in this series.
Right-hander Randy Dobnak limited the Pawtucket offense to just one run over his six innings. He allowed only 3 hits and a walk while punching out 5.
Rochester got the bats going in the second inning. After Brent Rooker walked to start the inning and Wynston Sawyer struck out looking, Wilin Rosaio ripped an RBI double to left-center field to make it 1-0 Red Wings.
They added two more in the third, and then scored again in the fourth on Rosario's seventh home run of the season.
Pawtucket responded in the bottom of the fourth. Gorkys Hernández led off with a single and came around to score on Chad De La Guerra's RBI double.
De La Guerra added a solo homer (his fourth of the season) in the ninth inning. The PawSox infielder is now 10-for-22 with 4 home runs, 3 doubles, and 10 RBI's over his last 7 games.
The Red Wings scored twice more on Maggi's two run blast in the sixth.
In his first start back with Pawtucket, southpaw Matthew Kent worked 6 innings and surrendered 6 earned runs on 7 hits and 3 walks.
Tzu-Wei Lin began a 20-day rehab assignment from Boston tonight and started at shortstop. Lin went 0-for-2 with a pair of flyouts to left field.
Right-hander Brian Ellington made his PawSox debut in the eighth inning, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing two walks and striking out a pair.
The PawSox wrap up their series with the Red Wings tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Left-hander Brian Johnson (0-0, 5.79 ERA) is scheduled make another rehab start for the PawSox. Kyle Hart (2-0, 2.40 ERA) will follow Johnson. Right-hander Chase De Jong (0-4, 13.76 ERA) is set to get the ball for the Red Wings.
The game will be televised live on myRITV. Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 12:35 p.m.
Tomorrow is the 7th Annual Bark in the Park. Fans who purchase a General Admission ticket are allowed to bring their dog to the game. Dogs and their owners are invited to participate in an on-field parade prior to the game. Sunday is also another Family Funday, which includes a pre-game catch on the field and post-game run the bases.
