Bring Back Friday Night Lights - The Pawtucket Red Sox - who saw their 4-game winning streak snapped last night - and thus their chance to return to the .500 mark for the first time in more than a month go by the boards - look to recapture some of their early-season success on Friday nights when they play the second of an important 4-game series against the 1st-place Lehigh Vally IronPigs tonight at 7:05 pm at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. After an Opening Night snow-out at McCoy Staidum vs. these IronPigs back on Friday, April 6, the PawSox proceeded to win each of their first 5 Friday night games to start the season (April 13 - May 11). However, since then they have lost their last 4 Friday night contests (May 18 - June 8) including a 6-4 defeat to Lehigh Valley back on Friday, May 25 at McCoy.
Last Night - As mentioned, the PawSox, failed to match their longest winning streak of the season last night as their 4-game streak came to an end at the hands of the IronPigs, 8-1 in the opener of this 4-game set. (The Sox had won 5 straight from May 27-31). Pawtucket also came up short in their attempt to reach the .500 level for the first time since May 11 when they were 16-16 as they dropped back 2-games below at 31-33 following the loss last night. Pawtucket comes into play tonight trailing the IronPigs (AAA-Philadelphia) by 6-games in the IL North.
Streak Busted but Still Winners - Pawtucket has still won 4 of 5, 6 of 9, and 12 of their last 18 games since May 27. The Sox have also won 4 of their last 5 on the road. They are presently 12-6 in their last 18 games since May 27. Before that, the Sox had lost 15 of their previous 19 games from May 7-26.
