PawSox Game Notes: June 21

Summertime, Summertime - The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Buffalo Bisons (AAA-Toronto) welcome the official arrival of Summer 2018 when they play the finale of their 4-game series at McCoy Stadium tonight at 6:15 pm (live on NESN). The PawSox will be bidding to win this series outright following their `0-2 victory last night that gave them a 2 games to 1 lead. Tuesday night the clubs split a make-up doubleheader with each team winning via shutout…Buffalo took the opener, 4-0 but the PawSox bounced back to blank the Bisons in the nightcap, 6-0. The PawSox are 7-11-4 in their first 25 series of the season (7 wins, 10 losses, and 4 splits) with an opportunity to win this series outright this evening.   
This Homestand - This 7-game homestand (2-1 thus far) will continue with another exciting weekend on tap at McCoy when the PawSox host the Syracuse Chiefs to conclude Pawtucket's second of two homestands here in June. Tomorrow (Friday) at 7:05 pm will be Pedro Martinez replica jersey night, Saturday at 6:15 pm will feature Beatles post-game fireworks, and Sunday at 1:35 pm will be highlighted by a tribute to the Armed Services before the game and Run the Bases after. Pawtucket is 19-17 at home this season compared to 15-19 on the road.  
All Downhill From Here - Pawtucket has played 70 games out of what has become a 139-game schedule this season (the April 25 rainout vs. Toledo at McCoy was cancelled and will not be made-up). The PawSox are 34-36 after 70 games this season - the exact same record they had at this point last year (34-36 on June 22, 2017). However, at this juncture last season the Sox were in 4^th-place but -12½ GB compared to currently just -6½ GB and in a tie for 3^rd-place.   The PawSox have played 36 home games this season (19-17) and, including tonight, they have 34 McCoy games remaining in 34 home dates (no doubleheaders as of now…knock on wood).
