PAWTUCKET, R.I. -The Pawtucket Red Sox (14-23) came from behind to take the final game of their three-game set with the Columbus Clippers (22-16) by a final of 5-3.
Pawtucket entered the bottom of the eighth inning trailing 3-1 and scored four times to take the lead.
After Brock Holt (starting as the DH once again in the second game of his rehab assignment) doubled to left, Mike Miller singled up the middle to make it 3-2. Later in the inning, Cole Sturgeon hit a single to tie the game at 3.
On the afternoon, Holt went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and a strikeout.
Josh Tobias struck out swinging, Juan Centeno was intentionally walked to load the bases, and then pinch-hitter Sam Travis lined a two-out, two-run single to right to put Pawtucket in front for good.
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning. Josh Ockimey continued his big series with an RBI double to bring home the game's first run. The PawSox had the bases loaded in that inning, but they were only able to score once.
In the series, Ockimey went 3-for-7 with a double, 2 home runs, 4 RBI's, and 5 walks.
But the Clippers responded quickly in the sixth inning. After a lead-off walk to Ryan Flaherty, Tracy Thompson homered to left field to put Columbus in front 2-1.
Later in the inning, Mike Papi blooped a single to center to make it 3-1.
PawSox starter Mike Shawaryn went 5 innings allowing only 2 hits and 2 earned runs. He walked 6 and struck out 5. Shawaryn has gone at least 5 innings in all eight of his starts this season.
Columbus starter Cody Anderson held the PawSox hitless through the first four innings. He ended up going 4.2 innings, giving up 2 hits and an earned run. He walked 2 and struck out a pair as well.
