Jupiter, FL - Ranger Suárez and the Clearwater Threshers (61-52, 23-20) held the Palm Beach Cardinals (60-49, 20-22) to two hits in a 3-0 victory.
Sam Tewes got the start and went seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits. He walked none and struck out three while getting the loss in the process.
The Threshers got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning as Derek Campbell reached on a single and scored on a Jose Pujols home run.
Ross Vance pitched in the eighth inning giving up a leadoff double to Jose Antequera, his second of the game. Mark Laird got Antequera to third with a scarifcie bunt. Vance struck out Cornelius Randolph on a breaking ball and put runners on the corners after he hit Wilson Garcia. Campbell flew out to right to end the threat to keep it a 2-0 game.
Hector Mendoza gave up a home run to Carlos Duran in the top of the ninth to make it a 3-0 hole that the Cardinals would never come out of.
Thomas Spitz and Casey Grayson were the only Cardinals players to reach base twice in the game.
