MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (April 7, 2017) - Former Myrtle Beach Pelicans infielder Drew Robinson earned a spot on the Texas Rangers' Opening Day roster out of Spring Training and made his debut for the club Wednesday at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Robinson is the 146th former Pelican to reach The Show, and is the first to make his debut in 2017.
Robinson, who was born in Las Vegas, went 0-for-2 Wednesday after entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning against the Cleveland Indians.
The left-handed batting third baseman played in 122 games with the Pelicans in 2013, hitting .257/.369/.404 with 26 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs and 70 RBI.
The No. 23 prospect in the Rangers' system according to MLB.com, Robinson made the team's Opening Day roster out of Spring Training, where he batted .246 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 29 games.
Myrtle Beach continues their opening week in Lynchburg tonight, with game two of their four-game series starting at 6:30 p.m. at Calvin Falwell Field at Lynchburg City Stadium.
