The Peoria Chiefs are hosting an online auction at peoriachiefs.com with all proceeds going to help those in the surrounding communities
The auction will kick off Tuesday afternoon with autographed baseballs from Stan Musial, Bob Gibson, Greg Maddux and David Freese along with an autographed Ryne Sandberg Hall of Fame program. So far other items have been pledged from St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs players, plus numerous former Chiefs along with items from local businesses and other Minor League Teams.
"The response on the auction front has been outstanding," said Chiefs Director of Media and Baseball Operations Nathan Baliva. "Every former player I've contacted has just said what do you need and where do I send it. It has been remarkable, they all want to help any way they can. The response from other teams both in the Midwest League and across Cardinals and Cubs affiliations has been overwhelming and we are very appreciative"
Items from former players, the Cubs, Cardinals and other teams will be added to the auction as they arrive so fans are encouraged to check back often to see new items. The auction will run indefinitely as items arrive. Anyone willing to donate an item can contact Nathan Baliva at 680-4018 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Items do not have to be baseball or even sports related.
