With the win, the Chiefs improve to 12-8 in the second half and 42-47 overall as they host the Captains for game two of the three-game series on Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
The Chiefs broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning to take a lead against Lake County starter Luis Jimenez. Robertson homered to left-center field for his first professional home run to give Peoria a 1-0 advantage.

The Captains scored three runs in the sixth against Ian Oxnevad to take their first lead of the game at 3-1.     The Chiefs added three runs an inning later off reliever Justin Garza to regain the lead. Nick Plummer singled to lead off, and Robertson hit his second home run of the night to give Peoria a 5-3 advantage. The Chiefs took a three-run lead when McCarvel homered to left field for his 10th home run of the season, which extended the Peoria lead to 6-3 lead.
Peoria added four insurance runs on three bases loaded walks in the eighth against Garza and Ryan Colegate to take a seven-run lead. Fennell and Plummer both drew walks to put an end to the night of Garza and Colegate entered out of the bullpen. Robertson reached on an infield single for his fourth hit of the night, and Trosclair drew a bases loaded walk to give Peoria a 7-3 lead. A batter later, Jackson became the fourth walked batter of the inning by Lake County pitching to give the Chiefs an 8-3 lead. McCarvel picked up a third consecutive bases loaded walk to score Robertson and extend the Chiefs lead to 9-3. Brian O'Keefe singled on a slow roller down the third base line that stayed just fair on the infield grass to bring home Trosclair and boost the Peoria lead to 10-3.
Oxnevad took a no decision allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings while striking out one. Ronnie Williams (3-4) picked up the win giving up one hit in 1 2/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and a walk.
