Next Chiefs Game: Sunday, July 6 -- at Cedar Rapids (Cedar Rapids, IA), 6:35 p.m.

PEORIA, Ill. -- Chiefs catcher Pedro Pages cleared the bases with a three-run double in the eighth inning to propel the Chiefs to a 4-1 win in front of a season-high 4,069 fans.

The game started out as a pitcher’s duel as Chiefs starter Jack Ralston traded zeroes with Austin Bergner. Ralston went five innings and struck out five in his first start since June 22.

The Chiefs struck first in the bottom of the third when Brady Whalen doubled to right field to score Pages.

West Michigan promptly tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo shot from Bryant Packard.

The game was knotted up until the bottom of the eighth when the Chiefs broke through. Peoria loaded the bases with no one out before Zack Hess retired Jhon Torres and Jordan Walker. Then, with two outs, Pages delivered a bases-clearing knock to give Peoria a 4-1 lead that they would hold onto for good.

Freddy Pacheco collected the save for the Chiefs and struck out a pair in the ninth to seal it.

The Chiefs are off on Monday and hit the road for six games with Cedar Rapids, starting Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. You can catch all six contests on the Peoria Chiefs Radio Network.
