Sea Dogs Take Game Two in 10 Innings

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Portland Sea Dogs took game two, 5-4, in 10 innings over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Sea Dogs improve to 22-16 while the Rumble Ponies drop to 11-26. Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Jeisson Rosario hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield and the Sea Dogs

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Portland Sea Dogs took game two, 5-4, in 10 innings over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Sea Dogs improve to 22-16 while the Rumble Ponies drop to 11-26.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Jeisson Rosario hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield and the Sea Dogs were on the board, 2-1. Grant Williams then lined a single to right field. Tate Matheny smashed a two-run home run to right field and the Sea Dogs led, 3-2.

In the bottom of the third inning, Quinn Brodey lined a lead-off single to right field then Mark Vientos hit a two-run blast to rightfield and the Rumble Ponies were back on top, 4-3.

Ryan Fitzgerald then tied the game in the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run to right field, forcing extra innings. Fitzgerald now has four homers this season.

In the top of the tenth inning tied 4-4, Williams was placed at second-base as the courtesy runner. An RBI double to rightfield by Matheny drove him home and the Sea Dogs were able to hold on to the 5-4 victory. Matheny finished the night 3-for-4 with one run and three RBI.

Durbin Feltman (3-0, 3.79 ERA) was given the win for Portland tossing 2.0 shutout innings allowing one walk with four strikeouts. Yeizo Campos (0-1, 3.52 ERA) was given the loss tossing 3.0 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out two.

The Sea Dogs and Rumble Ponies meet again tomorrow, Thursday June 17 for game three at 6:35pm. LHP Enmanuel De Jesus (1-1, 7.43 ERA) will be on the mound for Portland while Binghamton will send RHP Cole Gordon (0-0, 4.30 ERA).
