Asche homers in 3-2 loss at Trenton

Kyle Hart fires seven strong innings

Trenton, N.J. - The Trenton Thunder (27-17) scored two runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (13-31) on Thursday morning at Arm & Hammer Park. Portland finishes 1-8 on the trip and returns to Hadlock Field on Friday night.

Trenton lefty Trevor Lane (2-0) earned the win, working 1.1 innings without a hit. Daniel Alvarez earned his fifth save of the season, working around a lead-off single by Keith Curcio (2-for-4).
Kyle Hart (L, 3-6) worked seven innings for the third straight start and suffered the loss. Hart gave up four hits, three runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.
Portland took an early 1-0 lead with two outs in the first inning, as Cody Asche smacked his first homer of the season. The homer was the first for Asche in a Sea Dogs uniform. 
Hart retired the first six batters until the third inning when Matt Lipka led off with a solo homer, tying the game at one apiece. 
Portland grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, knocking Rony Garcia (ND) out of the game. Jeremy Rivera reached on an error to start the inning and scored when Luke Tendler reached on an error by the second baseman. Trenton responded with two runs against Hart in their half of the sixth. Wendell Rijo tied the game with a double and scored on a single from Brandon Wagner.
Asche, Curcio, and Tendler each had two hits. Durbin Feltman pitched a scoreless eighth with two strikeouts.
The Sea Dogs return home on Friday night to start a four-game series with the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate), first pitch is 6:00 PM. RHP Denyi Reyes (0-6, 5.49) takes on the Curve's RH James Marvel (4-4, 4.13). Radio coverage on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network begins at 10:15 AM.
