Sea Dogs beat Richmond, 9-4 on Wednesday

Chavis homers, Stankiewicz earns 4th win

Richmond, VA - The Portland Sea Dogs (55-58) scored eight times during the middle three innings, and held on for a 9-4 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (49-65) on Wednesday night at the Diamond. Portland has won three straight and 11 of their last 16.

RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (4-4) picked up his first win since July 1st, working 6.2 innings on eight hits and four runs. Portland's bullpen closed out the game with 2.1 scoreless.
Portland went to work against Dillon McNamara (L, 0-3) in the fourth. Michael Chavis put the 'Dogs on the board, launching a two-run homer (#12 with Portland). Chavis has hit 2-run homers in back-to-back games, and has 29 homers between Salem and Portland. With the blast, Portland has homered in 16 straight games.
Later in the fourth, Mike Olt added an RBI single and Cole Sturgeon delivered a sac-fly. Richmond scored their first run in their half of the fourth on an RBI single by Aramis Garcia.
In the fifth, Josh Tobias nailed a bases-clearing double to extend Portland's lead to 7-1. Jeremy Barfield and Olt added RBI singles later in the game. Barfield went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
Portland had 13 hits, receiving multi-hit games from: Barfield, Chavis, Josh Ockimey and Olt. 
Trevor Kelley worked 1.1 innings of relief and Bobby Poyner pitched a scoreless ninth. Poyner is scoreless in 18 of 20 outings in Double-A.
The Sea Dogs and Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) meet for the final time this season on Thursday night, beginning at 6:35 PM from the Diamond in Richmond, Virginia. LHP Dedgar Jimenez (2-0, 4.50) makes his fourth start of the season. Richmond counters with RHP Cory Taylor (4-8, 4.35).
