EIGHT IS ENOUGH: The Sea Dogs built an early 7-0 lead and held on for an 8-4 win over the Curve on Saturday night...RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (W, 3-4) was terrific in relief of Travis Lakins ...Stankiewicz pitched 6.1 scoreless frames on five hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts...Josh Ockimey, Luke Tendler, and Jantzen Witte each drove in two runs...The 'Dogs received a hit from seven of nine starters and produced double-digit hits for the sixth straight game.
BATS ARE SIZZLING: On May 8th, the Sea Dogs were ninth in the Eastern League in team batting average at .231...They enter tonight's game hitting .264 (second in the E.L.) and rank fifth in the league in runs scored at 185...Portland is hitting .329 (138-for-420) with 12 homers and 84 runs scored over their last 12 games - at least eight runs in five straight games and at least seven scored in 10 of their previous 12.  
HOW ABOUT THIS THREESOME: Chad De La Guerra (11 games), Tony Renda (19 games) and Witte (7 games) are hitting a combined: .425 (62-for-146), 5 HR, 30 RBI,14 2B, 3B, 15 BB, 24 SO and 4 SB...De La Guerra and Witte were received from Triple-A Pawtucket, and the Red Sox signed Renda as a minor league free agent.
COMEBACK HISTORY: Thursday night's comeback win was the largest deficit erased by the Sea Dogs since June 1, 2011, at New Britain when they were trailing by eight runs...During this road trip, the Sea Dogs have rallied back from a 7-0 deficit and lost on May 15th at Reading when leading 7-0 after five innings.
AGAINST THE OPPONENT: Portland and Altoona only play two series each season...The two teams meet in Maine on August 17-19 during a three-team, eight-game homestand for the Sea Dogs...Last year, the two teams split six games, with the home team taking both series.
