NICE RALLY: The Sea Dogs fell behind 5-0 and scored three times in the eighth inning but Altoona held on for a 6-3 win on Saturday night...Chad De La Guerra went 2-for-4 and blasted his third homer of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth...Josh Tobias added a run-scoring ground out...Brandon Waddell worked six scoreless and fanned seven to earn his second win of the year...Mike Shawaryn allowed just one run over 6 IP but took the loss for Portland.
BATS ARE SIZZLING: On May 8th, the Sea Dogs were ninth in the Eastern League in team batting average at .231...They enter tonight's game hitting .261 (second in the E.L.) and rank fifth in the league in runs scored at 188...Portland is hitting .319 (144-for-451) with 13 homers and 87 runs scored over their last 13 games - at least eight runs in five of their last six games and at least seven scored in 10 of their previous 13.  
HOW ABOUT THIS THREESOME: De La Guerra (12 games), Tony Renda (19 games) and Jantzen Witte (8 games) are hitting a combined: .424 (64-for-151), 6 HR, 32 RBI,14 2B, 3B, 18 BB, 26 SO and 4 SB...De La Guerra and Witte were received from Triple-A Pawtucket, and the Red Sox signed Renda as a minor league free agent.
COMEBACK HISTORY: Thursday night's comeback win was the largest deficit erased by the Sea Dogs since June 1, 2011, at New Britain when they were trailing by eight runs...During this road trip, the Sea Dogs have rallied back from a 7-0 deficit and lost on May 15th at Reading when leading 7-0 after five innings.
