Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will offer a Peanut Free Section at Hadlock Field on Monday, May 28th (Memorial Day) when the Sea Dogs host the Reading Fightin Phils at 1:00 PM. The Peanut Free Section will allow fans who have peanut allergies to safely enjoy a Portland Sea Dogs game.

The Sea Dogs Peanut Free Section will be located in the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right field. Tickets are $11.00 for adults and kids (16 and under) and seniors (62 and over) are $10.00. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.
The U.S. Cellular Pavilion will be thoroughly pressure washed before opening up to fans. The Sea Dogs will provide a special entrance to the ballpark located in right field so that fans with peanut allergies do not have to walk through the main stadium concourse where they may encounter peanuts. The U.S. Cellular Pavilion is the ONLY area of the ballpark that will be peanut free.
Additionally, the Sea Dogs will provide signage indicating to fans when they are entering and leaving a peanut free zone. Ushers will be on hand to check bags for peanuts entering the section.
Peanut allergies affect an estimated four out of 100 children and the number of children diagnosed with the allergy has doubled in recent years. Individuals can experience an allergic reaction simply by having their food come in contact with peanut-based products. For more information on peanut allergies log on to www.peanutallergy.com.
"Over the last several years peanut allergies have steadily been on the rise and we have had a number of requests from fans who want to enjoy a Sea Dogs baseball game but have been unable to as a result of the threat of peanuts at a ballpark, stated Sea Dogs General Manager Geoff Iacuessa. "We are proud to offer this peanut free section on May 28th giving all of our fans the chance to enjoy a Sea Dogs game in a comfortable atmosphere."
