Seven Sea Dogs Headed to the Arizona Fall League

Annual Prospect League begins on October 9th

Portland, Maine - The rosters for the 27th season of the Arizona Fall League were announced on Thursday, August 30. Seven Sea Dogs from this year's squad were selected to the Mesa Solar Sox: Michael Chavis, Bobby Dalbec, Darwinzon Hernandez, Josh Ockimey, Esteban Quiroz, Teddy Stankiewicz, and Josh Taylor. The Solar Sox are compromised of prospects from the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and Oakland A's. 

The Arizona Fall League is operated by Major League Baseball and showcases the top talent from all 30 organizations. Alumni of the Arizona Fall League include Dustin Pedroia, Mark Teixeira, Joe Mauer, Derek Jeter, Albert Pujols, Chase Utley, Ryan Braun, Stephen Strasburg and Buster Posey.
In addition to Portland's selections, Salem Red Sox Hitting Coach Nelson Paulino will serve as the Solar Sox Hitting Coach. 
The Arizona Fall League regular season runs from October 9-November 15, with the Championship Game on November 17th at Scottsdale's Stadium.
Chavis is ranked the #1 Prospect according to MLB Pipeline and is currently with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox. In 33 games with the Sea Dogs, Chavis hit .303 (37-for-122) with six homers and 17 RBI. Chavis has hit two homers in five games with the PawSox.
Dalbec is ranked the #6 Prospect according to MLB Pipeline and made his Double-A debut on August 4th vs. Richmond. Between High-A Salem and Portland, Dalbec has 32 homers and 105 RBI, ranking in the top five among all minor leaguers. 
Hernandez is ranked the #7 Prospect according to MLB Pipeline and made his Double-A debut on August 22nd at New Hampshire in his first relief outing of the season. The lefty was a starter at High-A Salem, going 9-5, 3.56 ERA in 23 starts.
Ockimey is ranked the #10 Prospect according to MLB Pipeline and was named the Sea Dogs Most Valuable Player on August 30th. Ockimey hit 15 homers in just 90 games with the Sea Dogs and still ranks third in the league with 59 walks. 
Quiroz spent most of the season on the disabled list but entered Thursday's game hitting .324 (24-for-74), 6 HR and 22 RBI in 20 games with Portland. The Mexican native picked up the team's first multi-homer game on April 11 at Reading.
Stankiewicz went 7-13, 4.65 ERA (73 ER/141.1 IP) in 24 games/18 starts, pitching in his third season with Portland. The right-hander hurled his fifth career complete game on August 22nd at New Hampshire.
Taylor was acquired by the Boston Red Sox from the Arizona Diamondbacks as the player to be named later on May 15th. In 32 games with Portland, Taylor is 2-5, 3.89 ERA with seven saves. Taylor tied a career-high with four strikeouts on August 10th at Akron.
