Yard Goats mow down Sea Dogs 8-0

Portland, Maine - Jack Wynkoop held the Sea Dogs scoreless for six innings and the Hartford Yard Goats (20-18) took the middle game of their series with Portland (12-22) 8-0 on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.

Wynkoop (W, 3-5) allowed just four hits and walked two over his six innings, the lefty also fanned seven.

Hartford opened up a lead in the second inning on an RBI triple by Vance Vizcaino followed by an RBI from Manny Melendez and an RBI double by Colton Welker to make it 3-0 early on.

Hartford extended their lead to 5-0 in the fifth on a solo homer by Alan Trejo and an RBI single from Melendez, who would finish the game with three hits and three RBIs.

The Yard Goats racked up 13 hits and also drew six walks and had two hit batsmen.

Denyi Reyes (L, 0-5) went 4.2 innings in his start for Portland and allowed five runs on nine hits.

The three-game series concludes on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field with a 6:00 PM start. RHP Tanner Houck (3-2, 5.14) opposes Hartford RHP Brandon Gold (3-2, 4.45).
