STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Ports offense wasted no time making its presence known on Friday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Stockton scored five runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take an early 7-0 lead that eventually turned into a 9-4 victory over the Visalia Rawhide by night's end.

Billy McKinney singled to open the bottom of the first and Daniel Robertson walked. With two aboard, Bruce Maxwell lined an RBI single to left to give the Ports a 1-0 lead. Two batters later with two on and one out, Dusty Robinson launched a three-run homer to left to increase the Stockton lead to 4-0. Chad Pinder followed with a solo blast to left to make it 5-0 as the Ports went on to send 10 men to the plate in the opening frame.

The struggles continued for Rawhide starter Hector Hernandez (1-1) in the second. With two outs, Matt Olson walked and Robinson reached on an infield single. Pinder came up next and hit a two-run double to left to make it a 7-0 advantage.

Hernandez suffered his first loss of the season, going five innings and allowing seven runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out two.

Ports starter Shawn Haviland (1-1) didn't allow a hit through the first three innings before allowing a bunt single to Raul Navarro to begin the fourth. With Navarro at third and with two outs, Ryan Court hit an RBI single to right to put the Rawhide on the board and make it 7-1.

Haviland gave up two more runs in the sixth, his final inning of work. Alex Glenn drove in a run on a sac-fly to right and Court drove in a second run with an RBI single to center to make it 7-3.

Haviland went on to earn his first win of the season, going six innings and allowing three runs on four hits while striking out four.

Michael Ynoa came on to begin the seventh and hit Brandon Jacobs with his first pitch. After two pitches out of the zone to Steven Rodriguez, Ynoa was visited by the training staff and coaching staff and was removed from the game due to an apparent injury. Ryan Doolittle took over and walked Rodriguez and eventually yielded an RBI groundout to Fidel Pena that scored Jacobs to make it 7-4. The run was charged to Ynoa's ledger.

The Ports got the run back in the bottom half of the inning facing Rawhide reliever Keith Hessler. Robinson led off with his third hit of the night, a double to right. After stealing third, Robinson scored two batters later on a sac-fly hit by Bobby Crocker to make it an 8-4 contest.

Stockton added a final run in the eighth on a McKinney solo home run to right, his fourth of the season, to make it a 9-4 game.

Hessler pitched three innings in relief for Visalia, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four.

Austin House pitched the final two innings for Stockton and did not allow a run.

The Ports and Rawhide play the third game of their four-game set on Saturday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Seth Streich (1-0, 1.80 ERA) toes the rubber for Stockton, opposed by Visalia right-hander Jesse Darrah (0-0, 47.25 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PDT.
