Max Muncy Named California League Player of the Week

STOCKTON, Calif.-Ports All-Star first baseman Max Muncy has been named the California League Player of the Week for the week of June 3-9.

 

Max had an astonishing .393 batting average (11-for-28) over the seven-game stretch with an impressive five home runs and 16 runs batted in.

 

His highlight of the week came on June 5th, Muncy went 3-for-5 with three homers and five RBI to help the Ports to a 13-7 win over the Lancaster JetHawks. A total of 11 combined home runs were hit on the night which matches a record set on August 26, 1962 in a game that featured Bakersfield and Reno.

 

The All-Star first basemen will represent the Ports in the mid-summer classic on June 18th in San Jose, California. Currently, Muncy leads the league with 15 home runs and 44 walks and ranks second with 57 RBI.
