Media Credentials

Press members affiliated with a professional media outlet applying for a Potomac Nationals Media Credential should contact Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations, Mike Weisman, at 703-590-2311 ext. 219 or mweisman@potomacnationals.com no later than 24 hours prior to the game for which you will provide media coverage to guarantee the credential request can be considered for approval. All media credential requests are subject to approval by the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department.

Two credential applications must be filled out to be considered for a Potomac Nationals Media Credential: the MiLB Press Credential Agreement Form and the Potomac Nationals Media Credential Request Form.

Season credentials will be honored to media organizations that intend to cover the Potomac Nationals Baseball Club on a consistent basis. The Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department expects season credential holders to cover the team at least once a homestand. Only Potomac Nationals 2018 Season Credentials will be honored as a valid flex press pass. No notice is necessary for the arrival of media members with season credentials.

Daily credentials serve as a daily media pass to Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium for individual games during the 2018 season. Media members should provide coverage notice at least 24 hours in advance of the game's first pitch time.

All credentials may be picked up at the Potomac Nationals Ticket Office Will Call window with proof of photo ID. Media credentials are intended to provide access solely to the bearer of the credential and not to any non-credentialed guests. Potomac Nationals Media Credentials are non-transferrable and may be revoked at any time at the discretion of the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department. No abuse of the Credential Terms of Use will be tolerated and credentials must be displayed (visible) at all times while operating in a media capacity at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium.

Player/Coaching Staff Interviews and Media Access

All one-on-one interview requests should be submitted to the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department 24 hours in advance of the anticipated interview in order to best accommodate the request.

All player and coaching staff interview requests fulfillment are at the discretion and responsibility of the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department and the player or coaching staff member.

Potomac Nationals players and coaches will be made available to the media during the pregame up to one hour prior to first pitch at which point media access will cease until after the game.

Absolutely no access to the home or visitor's clubhouse before, during, or after the game without prior consent from Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager, Mike Weisman, including all season credential holders. All clubhouse visitors and media members must be accompanied by a Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department representative while in the Home or Visitor's clubhouse at all times.

Postgame access to Potomac Nationals players and coaches will be made available following a mandatory 15-minute cool off period after the conclusion of the game, and in some cases the cool down period will exceed 15 minutes. Media members are asked to respect this policy and not take part in engaging players or coaches during this time.

The Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department will make every attempt to fulfill all reasonable and timely interview requests.

If necessary, a press conference room will be set up in the coaches' area of the home clubhouse for pressers if there is a need to accommodate multiple media outlets.

Pre-game Field Access

Credentialed media members will be granted access to the field (playing surface) during the pregame including batting practice up to one (1) hour prior to first pitch. The press is asked not to engage players and coaches until an appropriate time for interviews is identified by Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager, Mike Weisman.

Media members are asked to adhere to a "safe halo" rule regarding the amount of space from inside the chalk lines on the playing field to their location. Specifically, the press is asked to stay on the gravel warning track throughout the pre-game for the media's safety and in the interest of allowing the players and coaches to prepare for the game without distraction.

  • No access to the playing field (on the surface itself), inside dugouts, or in the bullpens is allowed during the course of the game for photographers, videographers, or other working media members. Non-commecial photos and video may be shot from field boxes and from First and Third Base Gates with respect to available space that does not interfere with fans' sightlines during the game.
  • Prior to the game, photographers and videographers must remain on the warning track and not on the playing field. Photographers and videographers are not to shoot beyond the first or third base bag, or get closer than halfway down the first or third base line towards the batting circle while shooting. Photographers and videographers may remain on the field up until the umpire signals last pitch for the starting pitcher warming up.

The media must remain 10 feet away from the outdoor batting cage while viewing hitting work in the exposed hitting cages up the right field line.

Pre-game dugout access could be granted at the discretion of the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department. In this case, if media members are at any point asked to leave the dugout area, they must adhere to this situational policy or risk revocation of their credential.

Absolutely no access to the field during the game.

Photography/Audio and Video Recording

No access to the playing field (on the surface itself), inside dugouts, or in bullpens during the course of the game for photographers, videographers, or other working media members. Non-commercial photos and video may be shot from field boxes and from First and Third Base Gates with respect to available space that does not interfere with fans' sightlines during the game.

Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium is devoid of camera wells.

  • No access to the playing field (on the surface itself), inside dugouts, or in the bullpens is allowed during the course of the game for photographers, videographers, or other working media members. Non-commecial photos and video may be shot from field boxes and from First and Third Base Gates with respect to available space that does not interfere with fans' sightlines during the game.
  • Prior to the game, photographers and videographers must remain on the warning track and not on the playing field. Photographers and videographers are not to shoot beyond the first or third base bag, or get closer than halfway down the first or third base line towards the batting circle while shooting. Photographers and videographers may remain on the field up until the umpire signals last pitch for the starting pitcher warming up.

Refrain from unauthorized audio recordings or video capture before, during, and after all games. All audio, video, and photography at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium must be sanctioned by the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department.

Television Crew Parking

Due to limited parking around the border of Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium, television crews with large satellite trucks are asked to provide the Potomac Nationals Media Relations Department at least 24 hours advance notice of arrival in the interest of coordinating parking space for the television production vehicle. Unexpected arrival of television trucks will not guaranteed parking close to the stadium.

Press Box Guidelines

Press Box access is limited to gameday press box staff members and media members with 2018 Season Credentials who have been granted prior permission to work inside the press box (press box space is limited, your understanding is appreciated).

Working press members may sit in the last row (closest to the press box) in Reserved Section 5 to work before, during and after games.

Game Statistics Packs/Game Notes/Rosters

Gameday stat packs, game notes, official rosters, and other media relations documents will be available to the media inside the Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium press box before every game as early as 90 minutes prior to first pitch. All credentialed press may pick up these media materials prior to and during the game.

Player Health Status/Injuries

All requests concerning information about the health status of players and coaches and/or injury reports will be forwarded to Potomac Nationals Field Manager, Tripp Keister and/or the training staff, or Washington Nationals medical staff.

Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager, Mike Weisman, and all other Potomac Nationals front office officials do not have authorization to make statements about a player's health status or injury unless otherwise instructed by Tripp Keister or the Washington Nationals.

Media Parking

All credentialed members of the media should provide 24 hours of their arrival at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium and when requesting a credential, please also make a media parking pass list request for the main parking lot. Most media parking pass list inquiries will result in guaranteed complimentary parking based on notice and availability in the parking lot. Not all media parking pass requests will be accommodated.

Player Roster Transactions

The Potomac Nationals and the Washington Nationals will notify the media of all player transactions affecting the Potomac Nationals Roster with a press release following all player moves. This release will be disseminated in the timeliest manner possible.

Media Distribution Email List

To be placed onto the Potomac Nationals Media Distribution Email List in the interest of receiving all club press releases and media advisories please contact Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations, Mike Weisman at 703-590-2311 ext. 219 or mweisman@potomacnationals.com. Please provide your email address, media affiliation, and phone number to be placed on the Potomac Nationals Media List.

Autographs

No solicitation of autographs or photographs by the media from Potomac Nationals players or coaching staff under any circumstances at any time.

Alcohol Consumption Policy

No alcohol is to be consumed by any working member of the media at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium. If this mandate is found to have been undermined, a zero tolerance policy exists and the media credential of the offender will be revoked.

Internet Access

Wi-Fi internet is available in the press box and in locations throughout Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium.
