Woodbridge, VA-The Carolina League has announced Potomac Nationals OF Michael Taylor has been honored as the circuit's latest Player of the Week for the third time in 2013.
Taylor, 22, from Coral Springs, Florida was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 6th round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of Westminster Academy (FL).
Taylor walloped the baseball to the hitting line of .435/.536/.783 after going 10-for-23 at the plate over the span of seven games from August 26th through September 2nd. The athletic, multi-faceted slugger collected five doubles, one home run, five RBIs, seven runs scored, five walks, and six stolen bases during the hot stretch.
The number six prospect in the Washington Nationals system per MLB.com and 11th ranked prospect on the Baseball America radar stashes the ninth overall weekly league award given to a Potomac National in 2013.
Taylor finished the 2013 regular season leading the Carolina League in doubles (41) and extra-base hits (57) while ranking second in stolen bases (51) and total bases (217). Taylor completed the campaign with the third-most RBIs (87) and fourth-best total of runs scored (79).
