Woodbridge, VA-The Potomac Nationals announce that OF Michael Taylor has claimed his second Carolina League Player of the Week Award after crushing the baseball during the week of July 15th through July 21st.
Taylor also received the league's weekly accolade during the period of May 20th to May 27th.
This past week, Taylor swung the bat to the tune of a .500 batting clip (12-for-24), a .538 OBP, and a .905 SLG% in six games. The number six prospect in the Washington Nationals system per MLB.com stashed five doubles, nine RBIs, four runs scored, one walk, and stole three bags with only three strikeouts accrued in the award-winning week.
Taylor, 22, from Coral Springs, Florida was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 6th round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of Westminster Academy (FL).
The wiry, athletic, speedy slugger with outstanding defensive instincts has tallied a whopping 17 outfield assists to lead all P-Nats outfielders in 2013. In addition, Taylor has collected the second most stolen bases in the Carolina League this season with 31 swipes in 35 steal attempts.
The durable Taylor has been tops among all those in the 2013 Nationals clubhouse in games played (93), hits (98), doubles (28), RBIs (61), and total bases (155).
In 2012, Taylor led the P-Nats in doubles (33) and was tied for second on the club in runs scored (51).
