All's Quiet: 'Jackets silence Power bats

West Virginia could not score on Wednesday.

Luis Escobar allowed just one run over five innings but took the loss.

(Charleston, WV - July 12, 2017)-  The West Virginia Power offense was silenced by the Augusta GreenJackets in a 2-0 loss. The Power opened the six-game homestand with a loss.

Augusta only needed two runs against Luis Escobar and West Virginia. Ashford Fulmer came across in the first inning on a Kelvin Beltre RBI groundout to second. The GreenJackets doubled their lead on sacrifice fly from Jose Vizcaino Jr. to score Kelvin Beltre in the sixth inning against Matt Eckelman.

 

GreenJackets' starter Garrett Williams turned in a seven inning, shutout performance. The left-hander struck out five Power batters while allowing five hits.

 

The 2-0 loss was handed to Escobar (6-5) after giving up just one run over five innings while Williams (4-1) earned the victory. For the third time in five games, Augusta has shutout West Virginia this season.
