(Charleston, WV- July 12, 2014)- The West Virginia Power blanked the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Saturday evening at Appalachian Power Park 6-0. Buddy Borden shut down the Greensboro offense as the Power pulled away with the victory.
The Power raced out to the early advantage when Erich Weiss blasted a three-run home run to right field in the first inning.
West Virginia added to the lead with a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning on an RBI base knock from Chris Diaz and a sacrifice flies off the bats of JaCoby Jones and Edwin Espinal.
Buddy Borden (5-6) earned the win with 6.2 scoreless innings pitched, striking out four and allowing just one hit. Jarlin Garcia (9-3) was charged with the loss. JaCoby Jones, the reigning South Atlantic League Player of the Week, extended his hit streak to 14 games in the win.
