No Luck: Power blanked Friday night

West Virginia has lost back-to-back games.

Angel German pitched a scoreless outing in relief.

(Hagerstown, MD - August 11, 2017)- The West Virginia Power was shutout by the Hagerstown Suns 7-0 on Friday night. The Power have dropped the first two games of the four-game series.

West Virginia sent Eduardo Vera to the hill but quickly saw a deficit build. Ttwo runs came across in each of the first two innings to build a 4-0 lead for the Suns. Vera lasted into the fifth inning, but with two outs allowed a three-run home run to Oliver Ortiz. Vera was knocked out after four and two thirds innings, allowing seven runs, six of which were earned.

 

The Power could not get any offense going against Hagerstown starter Matt DeRosier. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing two singles and striking out six. He retired 21 of the 23 batters he faced. West Virginia stranded runners on the corners in the ninth inning, The Power lost 7-0.

 

Vera (5-6) was handed the loss with DeRosier 02-2) grabbing the win. The Power and Suns square off again on Saturday night at 6:05 P.M. All the action can be heard on the Power Baseball Network.
