Same Ol': Late runs propel Power to win

West Virginia has not lost during this homestand.

Albert Baur drove in three runs with a sacrifice fly and a two-run single.

(Charleston, WV - August 7, 2017)- The West Virginia Power won their tenth straight home game with an 8-2 victory over the Lakewood BlueClaws. They have won six straight overall.

West Virginia manufactured a run in the first. Adrian Valerio doubled, moved to third on a groundout, and came home on an Albert Baur sacrifice fly. Mike Wallace, Power starter, was solid through his six and two thirds innings. After striking out ten in his previous start, he struck out nine BlueClaws.

 

West Virginia sent nine men to the plate in the sixth inning against reliever Jonathan Hennigan. Baur singled home a pair of runs while Ryan Nagle doubled home two as well. The Power held a 6-1 lead out of the sixth but allowed two runs in the top of the seventh on a double by Gregori Rivero.

 

Garrett Brown scored on a Clark Eagan sacrifice fly in the seventh to make it a 7-2 lead. Arden Pabst brought home Oneil Cruz in the eighth for insurance. West Virginia won 8-2.

 

Wallace (3-6) earned the victory in his sixth start. Lakewood starter Alejandro Requena (9-4) was handed the loss after five innings of one run ball. Ronny Augustin recorded the final seven outs and earned his first save.
