Mariners Rolled by Burlington

July 28, 2014

The Burlington Royals (18-19) exacted a measure of revenge on the Pulaski Mariners (20-17) for a three game sweep earlier in the year. Burlington broke the game open in the third inning and cruised to an 8-2 victory.

Zack Littell (3-4, 6.38 ERA), who grew up less than thirty minutes away in Mebane, started for Pulaski. Littell was sharp in the first two innings, but he surrendered four runs in the third inning. The Royals would strike big against Littell again with a three-run fifth inning.

Jose Leal drove in Wayne Taylor with a second-inning single for Pulaski's first run of the game. Gianfranco Wawoe ripped his first home run of the season for the Mariners' second and final run of the game.

The two clubs contest the second game of the series tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
