On Wednesday night, the Pulaski River Turtles fell to the Johnson City Doughboys, 22-13.

If you are a fan of offense, this was the game to watch, with 32 combined hits and 35 combined runs. The game would be Pulaski’s highest-scoring outing this season, but it still proved to be Johnson City’s night.

Johnson City would come out of the gates swinging, scoring five runs in the top of the first. Pulaski would cut that lead down to two thanks to a three-run moonshot from catcher Ryan Johnson, making it 5-3 after one.

The Doughboys would put up another run in second, but a Johnson RBI single would negate that run. The Doughboys would score three in the third and then follow that up with five in the fourth. Pulaski would cut the lead back down thanks to a four-run bottom of the fourth. The first two runs would come off a two-run double from second baseman Ryan Moerman. A two-run single from designated hitter Ryan Groves would bring in the subsequent two runs to make it 14-8, heading into the fifth inning.

Success would continue for Johnson City as they would score two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth. The River Turtles would try to get back in the game with a three-run sixth and two-run seventh. The three runs in the sixth would come off the bats of center-fielder Christian Smith and Groves, with both hitting moonshots to right-field. The two runs in the seventh would come off a fielding error to help bring in Carter Newman and Ryan Moerman.

Johnson City would then score an insurance run in the eighth to make the final 22-13.

Pulaski will look to bounce back Thursday with a rematch against the Doughboys.
