The Quad Cities River Bandits opened their three-game series against the South Bend Cubs with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Chandler Taylor's RBI single in the sixth inning turned out to be the decisive hit in front of 2,785 fans.
The River Bandits scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, Chandler Taylor doubled into the left center gap for the Bandits first hit. He moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on Colton Shaver's sacrifice fly to right field.
South Bend evened the score in the fifth inning before starter Parker Mushinski departed. Delvin Zinn singled with one out and moved into scoring position on a groundball by Chris Singleton. Zach Davis then drove him in with a single into left field that tied the game.

With the score still tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Seth Beer worked a leadoff walk. He raced to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a bouncer from Marty Costes. Taylor then ripped a line drive single into right field to score Beer and put the Bandits on top 2-1.
Mushinski worked 4.2 innings and allowed one run on three hits. He walked three and struck out four. Peter Solomon earned the win by tossing the next 3.1 innings without allowing a run. He surrendered two hits and fanned four. Willy Collado pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the save.
