The Quad Cities River Bandits recorded their tenth shutout win of the season as they defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark. The ten shutouts are tied for the league lead with South Bend and Cedar Rapids. The River Bandits also hit three home runs in the contest.
The Bandits struck first, with David Hensley achieving a career milestone in the process. In the top of the second inning, Jonathan Lacroix continued his torrid stretch at the plate with a base hit into right field. Hensley then went the other way with his first professional home run, a two-run blast into the bullpen in the right field corner.
Another home run helped the Bandits double their advantage in the third. With one out, Miguelangel Sierra reached base with a free pass. Hot Rods starter Austin Franklin walked off with the athletic trainer following ball four of that at bat. Colton Shaver then blasted a two-run home run off of reliever Tyler Zombro to push the margin to 4-0. The long ball was the tenth of the year for the third baseman.

The lead grew to 5-0 in the fourth inning. Hensley opened the frame with a walk and advanced to second by tagging up on a deep fly ball to center field from Michael Papierski. Logan Mattix drove him in by hooking a line drive into left field for an RBI single.
The River Bandits matched their season-high with their third home run of the game in the seventh inning. With one out, Seth Beer battled Jhonleider Salinas until he received a pitch he could handle and belted that pitch out of the ballpark to right for a solo home run. It was his second with the River Bandits and sixth professional blast. The round-tripper pushed the lead to 6-0.
Jairo Solis picked up his first win of the season by tossing 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits in the process. He walked four and struck out four. Bryan Abreu earned the save by tossing 3.1 scoreless, hitless innings out of the pen to finish the game. After hitting the first batter he faced with a pitch, Abreu retired the final ten batters in order. Bowling Green's two hits matched a season-low for the Hot Rods.
The River Bandits pounded out ten hits as a team. Costes, Shaver and Hensley each had two of them, while Shaver and Hensley also drove in two runs each.
The River Bandits (12-11, 52-41) close out the road portion of their schedule against the Eastern division with the series finale against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (16-7, 62-30) on Monday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. The Bandits will toss RHP Chad Donato (0-0, 0.64) in a match-up with Hot Rods RHP Mikey York (1-0, 1.00).
