Davenport, Iowa – The Quad Cities River Bandits smacked three homers in a ten-hit Friday night, as they took down the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 8-7 at Modern Woodmen Park to snap a five-game losing streak.

For the second-straight game, the River Bandits snagged the first lead of the contest as Tyler Gentry took advantage of Tyler Tolbert’s leadoff double and drove in a 1-0 lead with an RBI groundout in the first.

After Bandits’ starter Patrick Halligan stranded Timber Rattlers on the corners in the top of the second, Quad Cities marked their first of three-straight innings with a home run, as Kale Emshoff and Luca Tresh left the yard for their fifth homers of the year in the second and third respectively, and then Cam Williams wrapped a two-run moonshot around the right field foul pole off of Tyler Gillies to give his team a 6-3 lead at the end of the fourth.

Halligan’s start lasted 4.0 innings as the right-hander gave up two homers of his own, including a two-run blast to Wes Clarke that cleared the batter’s eye in the top half of the fourth.

Neither tallied a run in the fifth with Anthony Simonelli striking out a pair of Rattlers and Miguel Guerrero stranding three Bandits aboard by striking out Dillan Shrum in a bases loaded situation.

The offenses came back to life in the sixth though, as Wisconsin scored three against Simonelli by way of a wild pitch, an Antonio Pinero RBI single, and a Zavier Warren RBI fielder’s choice. However, the Bandits responded with two of their own Diego Hernandez’s bases loaded run-scoring single and a Kent Hasler balk that plated a run with two outs and Burle Dixon at the plate in a two-strike count to give Q.C. an 8-6 lead.

Although the Rattlers tagged Simonelli for a run in the final frame of his 3.0-inning relief outing in the seventh, Emilio Marquez tossed perfect eighth and ninth innings to close out a one-run win and his first career save.

Despite allowing four runs in the contest, Simonelli (2-0) earned the win out of the bullpen for Quad Cities, while Miguel Guerrero (1-3) got the loss, allowing the RBI single to Hernandez in the sixth.

Quad Cities will look to win their second game of the weeklong series on Saturday, as they’ll run out Noah Murdock (0-0, 5.09) to face Wisconsin’s TJ Shook (0.91). First pitch at Modern Woodmen Park is scheduled for 6:30pm.
