Offense Erupts for Bandits’ Third-Straight Win

Appleton, Wisconsin – The Quad Cities River Bandits smacked a season-high 11 extra-base hits and scored in each of the final six innings of the game to rout the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 13-5 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Tuesday.

Quad Cities never didn’t lead for more than half of an inning, as they used Tyler Tolbert’s leadoff double in the first to plate a 1-0 lead on Diego Hernandez’s RBI fielder’s choice against T-Rats’ starter Ryne Moore, who worked just 2.0 innings in his start.

Making a Triple-A rehab start, Eric Skoglund gave up one run in his 2.1 innings of work before Chase Wallace took over out of the bullpen and allowed three runs in 1.2 innings. However, the Q.C. bats never quieted after the third inning and after Hernandez extended his on-base streak to a Midwest League best 28 games with a solo home run in the fourth, the Bandits collected three more against Brewers’ rehabber Trevor Gott, who gave up a two-run double to Luca Tresh and an RBI single to Kale Emshoff in the fifth.

After each team got a run in the sixth, with Wisconsin plating a run on a Parker Harm wild pitch and Quad Cities taking a 6-5 lead on Burle Dixon RBI double, the Bandits scored seven unanswered runs. Herard Gonzalez, who homered twice in his last outing at Fox Cities stadium, blasted a two-run shot in the seventh, a run-scoring single from Dixon and a pair of RBI triples from Tolbert and Tresh posted a four-spot in the eighth, and a Hernandez RBI double topped it off in the top of the ninth.

Six Bandits’ batters recorded multi-hit efforts, four notched multi-RBI games, and Tolbert and Tresh each finished a home run away from the cycle.

Q.C. relievers Ruben Ramirez and Patrick Smith kept the Timber Rattlers on the board down the stretch, combining for 3.2 shutout innings to close out the game.

Despite allowing three runs, Wallace (1-0) got the win for Quad Cities, while Gott (0-1) took the loss and a blown save for Wisconsin, allowing three runs on four hits.

Quad Cities can claim its first four-game winning streak of the season on Wednesday, as they’ll toss Rylan Kaufman (1-3, 5.28) against the T-Rats’ Zach Mort (3-2, 5.06). First pitch at Fox Cities Stadium is scheduled for 6:40pm.
