Beloit, Wisconsin – The Quad Cities River Bandits snapped a four-game losing streak on Thursday, topping the Beloit Sky Carp 6-2 behind the second-straight seven-inning start from Adrian Alcantara at ABC Supply Stadium.

The right-hander allowed two unearned runs with four strikeouts and has now thrown 14-straight innings without allowing an earned run.

While their starter faced the minimum through the first four innings, the River Bandits offense took a 2-0 lead in the second against Evan Fitterer, plating a pair of runs on back-to-back pitches, with Saul Garza driving in Juan Carlos Negret with a single and then Rubendy Jaquez scoring Kale Emshoff on a ground ball.

In the fourth, Quad Cities brought nine men to the plate and got two more RBI singles, this time from Burle Dixon and Diego Hernandez, before Tyler Tolbert plated a 5-0 lead with a sacrifice-fly.

The bottom of the fifth saw Beloit score its only runs of the game, as the Sky Carp took advantage of three River Bandits’ errors and got sac-flies from Dalvy Rosario and Marcus Chiu to cut the Q.C. lead to three.

After the Sky Carp’s second run in the fifth, Alcantara retired the next six men he faced and turned the ball over to Caden Monke (2), who followed up the starter with a clean eighth inning, striking out the side in order on 15 pitches en route to a hold.

Despite amassing just three base runners from the fifth through eighth innings, Quad Cities manufactured an insurance run against Tyler Mitzel in the top of the ninth, with Tolbert scoring from third on Negret’s deep flyball to center.

Kasey Kalich closed the door on a Sky Carp comeback in the bottom of the ninth, stranding a pair of walks to end the game.

Alcantara (4-5) capped off his gem with the win for Quad Cities, while Fitterer (3-6) took the loss for Beloit, allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits and two walks.

The River Bandits will look to tie up the series at two games apiece on Friday night at ABC Supply Stadium, as they’ll toss William Fleming (0-2, 7.58) against the Sky Carp’s Jackson Rose (2-1, 1.44). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
