Lancaster, CA - Rylan Bannon tied a franchise record by homering three times, as Rancho ripped the Lancaster JetHawks on Wednesday night, taking an 11-4 decision at The Hangar.
Bannon cracked a solo home run in the second, then blasted a two-run homer in the fourth and then another two-run bomb in the ninth, completing the "hat trick" and becoming the first Quake with three homers in a game since DJ Peters did it on July 2nd of 2017, also against the JetHawks, but at LoanMart Field rather than The Hangar.
Bannon's first of three put the Quakes on the board at 1-0 in the second, but the JetHawks answered with two in the bottom of the inning against Rancho starter Tony Gonsolin.
In the fourth, Bannon gave the Quakes the lead for good, as his two-run homer with Donovan Casey aboard made it 3-2 against JetHawks' starter Brandon Gold (2-1). The Quakes weren't done in the fourth, as Saige Jenco and Gavin Lux had back-to-back run-scoring hits, making it 5-2.
Lancaster got a run in the fifth against eventual winner Parker Curry (2-0), as Roberto Ramos doubled home a run to make it 5-3.
Rancho pulled away late, adding a run in the sixth, then another in the seventh on a long-ball by Connor Wong, who hit his team-leading sixth of the year. Omar Estevez went deep to left in the eighth with a man aboard, making it 11-3, his first of the season.
In the ninth, Bannon made history with his third of the night and fourth of the year, a two-run shot off JetHawks' reliever Reid Humphreys.
Lancaster rounded out the scoring in the last of the ninth, getting a two-out run off Nolan Long to round out the scoring.
The Quakes (7-7) move back into a first-place tie with Lancaster, thanks to two of three in the series and five of their last six overall.
On Thursday, the Quakes return to LoanMart Field to host the Lake Elsinore Storm in a four-game series. The Quakes will go with Imani Abdullah (0-1) in Thursday's opener, while the Storm will counter with lefty Adrian Morejon (0-2) with first pitch at 7:05pm.
Thursday's home stand opener is a Thirsty Thursday, with $2 Pepsi products, $3 domestic drafts and $4 premium drafts. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field very soon...Go Quakes!
