July 22, 2013

Modesto, CA -  The Quakes won their fifth straight series, taking two of three from Modesto with a commanding 9-2 win over the Nuts on Monday evening at John Thurman Field.

The victory for the Quakes caps a 4-2 road trip and gives Rancho ten wins in their last 13 games.

Four different Quakes scored two runs each, as the offense posted ten total hits. Darnell Sweeney enjoyed a three-hit, three RBI effort to lead the way.

Nuts' starter Eddie Butler (3-4) was roughed up for four runs, three earned, on five hits over five innings.

Rancho (14-16, 46-56) will open a six-game home stand on Tuesday night, sending JonMichael Redding (3-4) to the mound in the series-opener against Inland Empire. Jake Boyd (0-4) will hit the bump for the 66ers with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
