Fifth Straight "W" to Open Road-Trip

July 17, 2013
Stockton, CA -  Scott Schebler's RBI double in the top of the 14th put the Quakes ahead to stay and O'Koyea Dickson's grand slam gave them the cushion they needed to hold on for their season-high fifth straight win, as Rancho defeated Stockton by a final of 11-8 at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton.
Rancho's fifth straight win, a five hour and 11-minute marathon, wasn't an easy one to come by, as Stockton scored two unearned runs with two outs in the ninth inning, when a routine pop-fly which should have ended the game was misplayed by infielder Pedro Guerrero.
The Quakes connected for four home runs for a second straight game, as Bobby Coyle (5), Noel Cuevas (10), Pratt Maynard (5) and Dickson (11) all went deep.
Despite allowing two unearned runs in the last of the 14th, Dan Coulombe (1-2) picked up the win in relief. Reliever Blake Smith, the eighth Quakes' pitcher of the night, nailed it down and earned the final two outs in the 14th, although it came in a non-save situation.
Stockton reliever Jonathan Joseph (5-5) gave up the five-spot in the top of the 14th, as he got hit with the loss.
The Quakes (12-15, 43-54) have now won nine of their last 11 games overall and four of their last five road games. JonMichael Redding (3-3) will take on Tanner Peters (8-5) at 7:05pm.
The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, July 23rd, opening a six-game home stand. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
