Inland Empire Outlasts Rancho in 11

July 23, 2013

Rancho Cucamonga, CA -  Inland Empire took advantage of five Quakes' errors and a lack of clutch hitting, stealing the opening game of a three-game series with a 10-7 11-inning win at LoanMart Field on Tuesday night.

O'Koyea Dickson had a three-run homer to even the game at 7-7 in the fifth, but the Quakes had countless chances to put the game away over the next several innings and couldn't produce.

Inland Empire finally broke the stalemate in the 11th, as Quakes' reliever Raydel Sanchez (0-2) allowed back-to-back singles, then balked home the go-ahead run. An error and a sac fly from Inland Empire Zach Borenstein accounted for two more runs, as the 66ers took a commanding three-run lead.

The Quakes went in order in the last of the 11th, as Inland Empire reliever Ty Kelley (4-2) fired his third scoreless inning of work.

Dickson had a big night for the Quakes, with a pair of hits, including his 13th homer of the year.

Pratt Maynard reached base five times, going 3-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Rancho (15-18, 46-57) will send Carlos Frias (2-3) to the mound on Wednesday night, with Inland Empire countering with Mark Sappington (10-4), with first pitch scheduled at 7:05pm.

Wednesday night is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as four-legged friends can join you at LoanMart Field for just a $3 Pet Pass, with the proceeds going to the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter.
