Quakes Conclude Regular Season on Monday

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes concluded the regular-season portion of their schedule on Sunday afternoon, dropping an 8-1 decision to the Lancaster JetHawks.
 
An RBI single by Corey Seager broke up Lancaster's would-be shutout attempt in the ninth, as the JetHawks earned a four-game split with the Quakes.]
 
Just one night after clinching a post-season berth, the Quakes struggled to get going against Lancaster starter Aaron West (10-8), who tossed five innings of two-hit baseball.
 
Quakes' starter Francisco Villa (0-1), making his Quakes' debut, allowed five runs over just four innings.
 
After the JetHawks scored three times in the third to take a 3-0 advantage, Chris Epps and Delino DeShields each hit a solo homer in the fourth, giving the JetHawks a commanding 5-0 lead. 
 
Epps added another solo-shot in the sixth, his 16th of the year, making it 6-0 against reliever Joel Lima.
 
The Quakes finished with just five hits on the day, picking up three of them in the ninth inning against JetHawks' reliever Jordan Jankowski.
Matt Kemp, in the fifth and final game of his rehab assignment, went 0-for-4, finishing without a hit in 18 at-bats over the five-game stint. 
 
Rancho finishes the second half at 34-36 and 65-75 overall, while Lancaster, who won both the first half and second half south pennants, finishes 43-27 in the second half and 82-58 overall. 
 
The Quakes take a day off on Tuesday, then open up a best-of-three against the Inland Empire 66ers on Wednesday night at 7:05pm. JonMichael Redding (4-5) will take the mound in the opening game at LoanMart Field, while the 66ers will throw newcomer Drew Rucinski (2-2).
 
Wednesday's series-opener will feature $1 hot dogs, available throughout the evening.
