June 15, 2014

Lancaster, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes completed the first half of the regular season on a winning note, salvaging a split of the four-game series in Lancaster with a 9-3 win over the JetHawks.

Chris Anderson earned the win and was backed by 15 hits, including three home runs, as the Quakes won for the seventh time in their last 11 games to head into the four-day All-Star Break.

Anderson (4-5) struggled with his command, walking four batters and hitting two over five innings, but allowed just one earned run on four hits.

The Quakes grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first, as Jonathan Garcia, who had three hits on the night, singled home Rob Garvey with two outs.

Lancaster got even against Anderson in the second, as Dan Gulbransen walked with the bases loaded to knot the game at 1-1.

Rancho scored three times in the third to take the lead for good against Lancaster starter Kyle Westwood (5-4), as Aaron Miller, Garcia and Steven Proscia all had run-scoring hits to put the Quakes up 4-1.

Anderson gave up his second run in the bottom of the inning, as the JetHawks got a two-out hit from Conrad Gregor, scoring Carlos Correa to make it 4-2.

Proscia homered in the fifth, his eighth of the year, making it 5-2.

Tyler Ogle went deep in the seventh, breaking it open with his fourth long-ball of the year, a three-run shot to make it 8-2.

Garcia capped his three-hit night with a solo shot, his 11th, making it 9-2 in the ninth.

The JetHawks got a two-out run off of Rob Rogers, who uncorked a wild pitch in the last of the ninth to allow Jobduan Morales to score, capping the scoring at 9-3.

The Quakes (32-38) finish the first half at six games under .500, while the First Half South Division Champion JetHawks (44-26) finish at 18 games over the .500 mark.
