Winning Streak Halted in Stockton

July 18, 2013

Stockton, CA -  Stockton got six shut-out innings from starter Tanner Peters, as the Ports stopped Rancho Cucamonga's season-high five-game winning streak, with an 8-0 shutout over the Quakes on Thursday night at Banner Island Ballpark.

Peters (9-5) scattered four hits and struck out six over his six innings, earning his team-leading ninth win and helping the Ports earn their third shutout of the year.

Noel Cuevas had a pair of hits and a pair of stolen bases to lead the way, but no Quake reached third base, as they were blanked for the third time on the season.

Stockton's B.A. Vollmuth had a big day, with two hits and three runs scored, including a solo homer, his team-leading 18th of the year.

Quakes' starter JonMichael Redding (3-4), who hadn't allowed an earned run in three starts, struggled on Thursday, allowing seven runs, six earned, over just five innings in the loss.

The Quakes (12-16, 43-55) can still win their fourth straight series, as they look for two of three on Friday night in the rubber game of the set against the Ports. Carlos Frias (1-3) will take on Raul Alcantara (3-0) at 7:05pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, July 23rd, opening a six-game home stand. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
