Pineda Makes Second Rehab Appearance with SWB
August 8, 2014

Moosic, Pa. - A night that saw the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre franchise don a new name and new uniforms, didn't result in a new outcome. Giovanny Urshela homered and drove in both of the Columbus Clippers' (Cleveland Indians), runs while veteran right-hander Kyle Davies fired seven shutout frames for the Clippers in a 2-1 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Trolley Frogs (Triple-A/New York Yankees) Friday night. The loss marked the 'Frogs' fourth straight defeat and made Columbus victorious in 13-straight contest over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Big league rehabber Michael Pineda (0-1) worked 4.1 innings struck out seven batters and scattered six hits, including Urshela's RBI fielder's choice in the first. He departed after retiring Francisco Lindor with his 72 pitch of the night, a ground ball to second. Two scoreless frames followed before Urshela struck again, this time with a solo home run in the seventh off Nick Rumbelow for the 2-0 lead.

The Trolley Frogs collected just two base hits off Davies before Kyle Roller brought the club to within one with a solo jack in the ninth. Roller's home run chased reliever Josh Outman and ended a drought of 23.2 innings with an SWB run. Rigt-hander Mark Lowe finished the contest by retiring Taylor Dugas on a weak ground ball to second to second the 2-1 win.

Pineda retired eight of his final nine batters in the loss while Davies (7-7) allowed just two base hits and retired 13 of his finals 14 batters faced before handing the baton off to reliever Tyler Sturdevant in the eighth.
