Cowboy Monkeys Highlight Promotional Calendar

Epic Ledger Unveiled, Record Number of Giveaways Planned
February 11, 2013
MOOSIC, Pa. - Have you ever seen a monkey dressed like a cowboy riding a dog like a horse while herding farm animals? You will this summer at PNC Field at the June 22 night game when the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo invades NEPA on Country Night. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders proudly announce their full promotional calendar for 2013. CLICK HERE to view the schedule.

"We are focused on making RailRiders baseball the premier NEPA destination for affordable, fun family entertainment," said RailRiders president and general manager, Rob Crain. "This schedule is loaded with giveaways, fireworks and more. We have something every night for every fan. PNC Field is the place to be for the entire family."

Giveaways were rare in recent years for the franchise. From 2007-09, there were no giveways at the gate. The 2010 and 2011 seasons combined for a total of 11 giveaways with six and five respectively, while the team had no home games in 2012 and consequently, no giveaways. The 2013 docket includes a whopping 18 giveaways with a truly unique promotion kicking off the calendar on Opening Day as 10,000 First Pitch Photos courtesy of Independent Graphics will be handed out to fans as they exit the park on April 4. The next day, 5,000 fans will receive Magnetic Schedules while the April 6 contest features 2,500 bobbleheads of SWB baseball legend Greg Legg thanks to PNC Bank. Over the course of the year, other giveaways will include Welcome Mats, Porcupine Pillow Pets, Baseball Bats, Houdini Paperweights, RailRiders Replica Jerseys and more.

Many games will carry themes as well. That includes The Office Appreciation Night on May 10, the night after the finale of the hit NBC series that is set in Scranton. On Star Wars Night, May 25, fans can interact with Darth Vader and other signature characters of the legendary franchise along with demonstrations of lightsaber technique from the galaxy far, far away. Peanut Free Night on July 18 is made specifically to entice fans with allergies to the world's most versatile legume. The entire park will be power washed and made as peanut-free as possible. Other themes to note include Storybook Princess Night, Christmas in July, Faith Day, Superhero Night, Almost Halfway to St. Patrick's Day and others.

"We've packed a ton of fun and excitement into our 72-game schedule," said the team's director of fan experience, Cameron Wengrzyn. "From cowboy monkeys riding on dogs, to storm trooper and Darth Vader invasions, fans of all ages are sure to have a great time at the new PNC Field in 2013. Fun family entertainment is our objective, and we are determined provide that to every fan, every game."

The RailRiders' 2013 season gets underway with the grand opening of a reconstructed PNC Field on April 4 when the defending IL champion Pawtucket Red Sox come to town for a rematch of their 2012 playoff clash with SWB. It will mark the first "Thirsty Thursday" promotion of the year with $1 beer specials and $1 Pepsi products along with a pre-game live band performance and post-game fireworks. Club seating, partial and full-season ticket plans are now available.
