Moosic, Pa. - The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) dropped their first series since early May and the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs left PNC Field with a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon. The RailRiders (55-34) maintain a half-game lead over the IronPigs (55-35) for first place in the International League North heading into the All-Star Break.
Nestor Cortes (0-2) allowed three unearned runs in a five-run, fourth-inning rally by Lehigh Valley. The southpaw gave up three hits and one walk while striking out three. Edubray Ramos (1-0) picked up the win with a scoreless 1.2 innings of relief and Pedro Beato notched his Minor League-best 25th save with a scoreless ninth.
The RailRiders struck for the first run when Billy McKinney lined his fourth Triple-A homer to the seats beyond right field. Matt Holliday scored Mason Williams with a base hit in the third for a 2-0 lead. Holliday was 3-for-8 with an RBI in his two games on rehab with SWB.
The Triple-A All-Star Game emanates from Tacoma, Washington on Wednesday, July 12. The IL All-Stars face the best from the Pacific Coast League beginning at 9:05 p.m. ET.
