MOOSIC, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders saw their three-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday night in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at PNC Field. The RailRiders still have a 2-1 advantage in the 2018 IronRail series at the end of the first series.

Chance Adams pitched well for the RailRiders in his second start of the season, turning in five scoreless innings. The right-hander scattered four hits and two walks in his outing, striking out a season-high six. It was the first start for Adams in which he did not allow a run since June 22, 2017 against the Pawtucket Red Sox.

The game was scoreless into the top of the sixth when the IronPigs struck for a pair of runs against J.P. Feyereisen. Lehigh Valley strung together four straight singles to open the frame to plate its tallies, but the RailRiders righty was able to settle down and limit the damage.

Feyereisen was replaced by Cody Carroll, who walked the leadoff batter in the eighth but didn't allow anything further in his two innings of work. Adams, Carroll and Feyereisen combined to strike out 10 batters, the second time in the series SWB pitching has accomplished the feat.

The RailRiders couldn't muster much offense against the IronPigs pitchers, totaling just four hits on the night, and none after the fifth inning. Thirteen of the final 14 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre batters were retired to end the game.

L.J. Mazzilli went 1-for-4 and was strong in the field in his Yankees organizational debut. He was acquired in a trade from the New York Mets on Tuesday. Major league rehabber Aaron Hicks played all nine innings and finished 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Feyereisen (1-1) was handed the tough-luck loss, while Brandon Liebrandt (1-0) won the game in relief for the IronPigs. Pedro Beato earned his second save of the season, working around a two-out walk in the ninth.

The RailRiders hit the road to begin their first road trip of the season Thursday night against the Charlotte Knights. First pitch is scheduled 7:04 p.m. LHP Josh Rogers (0-0, 3.60) takes the ball for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while RHP Chris Volstad (0-1, 9.64) is slated to throw for Charlotte.
