RailRiders to Hold Open House at PNC Field

Public Invited to Choose Its Own Seats
January 15, 2013
MOOSIC, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will be holding an Open House on Saturday, Jan. 26. Fans are invited to come out and check the progress of PNC Field. The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fans are also invited to purchase season ticket or group packages. Those interested in purchasing ticket packages will have the opportunity to select the seat they purchase and see its view in person. New RailRiders merchandise will be available for purchase as well. CHAMP, the RailRiders' mascot, will be assisting with tours and will be on hand to entertain fans and pose for pictures.

"I see the ballpark as often as just about anyone and there are days when I am still amazed at the progress," said RailRiders president and general manager Rob Crain. "The chance to sit in a seat, see the exact gorgeous, up-close view it allows, and purchase it on the spot? That is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Perhaps literally, since these seats are moving very quickly."

The construction at PNC Field has been ongoing since the groundbreaking on April 30, 2012, and fans are invited to check the progress of the new $43 million site. Crews have been working double shifts since Jan. 7, making the overhaul all the more extreme with each passing day. Even for those folks that saw where PNC Field was at the Beam Signing, the Holiday Tent Sale or through Photo Fridays on the team's Facebook page will be blown away at the progress when they come to this Open House. The ballpark is scheduled to be ready for Opening Day on April 4. The new PNC Field will feature a spacious club level, multiple suites, a new general seating area, and many more new additions and improvements.

The RailRiders' 2013 season gets underway with the grand opening of a reconstructed PNC Field on April 4 when the defending IL champion Pawtucket Red Sox come to town for a rematch of their 2012 playoff clash with SWB. It will mark the first "Thirsty Thursday" promotion of the year with $1 beer specials and $1 Pepsi products along with a pre-game live band performance and post-game fireworks. Club seating, partial and full-season ticket plans are now available.
