SWB Field Staff Returns in 2013

Familiar Faces All Around with Miley & Co. Back Intact
January 3, 2013
MOOSIC, Pa. - The entire field staff that traveled this way and that en route to an IL North title a season ago returns intact for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders' 2013 season. Manager Dave Miley, pitching coach Scott Aldred, hitting coach Butch Wynegar, coach Frank Menechino, athletic trainer Darren London and strength and condition coach Lee Tressel will once again mentor, mend and develop the players that call NEPA home.

Miley, who was named Manager of the Year for all of minor league baseball in 2012 by Baseball America, enters his seventh season as the skipper in SWB and eighth with the Bombers' Triple-A squad. He also called the shots during the Yankees' final campaign in Columbus (2006). Wynegar, a two-time All-Star during his Major League playing days, enters his seventh season with the franchise as well. 2013 marks year five with the team for Aldred, who pitched in the bigs for 11 seasons, and year three for Menechino, who has playing experience in 450 big league games and the 2006 World Baseball Classic on his résumé. London, the International League's Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2006 and 2012, has spent more than two decades as the Yankees' Triple-A athletic trainer with this season marking his 21st at the level and 25th in a row with the organization. Tressel enters his 10th year in pinstripes and his fifth with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

"We think the world of our staff," said RailRiders president and general manager, Rob Crain. "Our fans get a true treat each night when they watch a team prepared by this bunch. It is one of the most talented and experienced staffs in professional baseball."

The RailRiders' 2013 season gets underway with the grand opening of a reconstructed PNC Field on April 4 when the defending International League champion Pawtucket Red Sox come to town for a rematch of their 2012 playoff clash with SWB. It will mark the first "Thirsty Thursday" promotion of the year with $1 beer specials and $1 Pepsi products along with a pre-game live band performance and post-game fireworks. Club seating, partial and full-season ticket plans are now available.
