Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes locked up the series sweep over Lancaster on Sunday afternoon, scoring five unanswered runs in a 5-2 victory at LoanMart Field.
Leo Crawford tied a season-long outing with seven strong innings and held Lancaster scoreless after an early blow in the first.
Manny Melendez singled to open the game and Alan Trejo popped a two-run home run for a 2-0 lead.
Brandon Gold tossed three scoreless innings for Lancaster before surrendering the lead in the fourth. Cody Thomas singled and advanced to third on an Omar Estevez double. Thomas came home on a wild pitch and Crisitan Santana's sacrifice fly to right tied the game at two.
Donovan Casey rejoined the Quakes on Sunday, sidelined with a wrist fracture since late May. Casey drove home Santana with a go-ahead RBI-single in the sixth to make it 3-2. Gold (9-7) was lifted from the game after six compete innings and saddled with the loss.
Crawford (5-0) completed a scoreless seventh and was replaced by Dan Jagiello who struck out the side in the eighth.
The Quakes added a pair of runs in the home-half of the eighth against reliever Justin Lawrence. Jeren Kendall connected with an RBI-single and Casey drove in his second run of the game with a ground out. Casey finished the afternoon two-for-four with two RBI in his return from the disabled list.
Isaac Anderson came on in the ninth leading 5-2 and was tasked with his first save opportunity of the season. The right-hander loaded the bases before throwing out Alan Trejo at third and getting Carlos Herrera to ground out and end the game.
