Rancho Cucamonga, CA – A return home proved to be most beneficial to the Quakes, as Rancho Cucamonga blasted four home runs and beat up on division-rival Lake Elsinore, scoring an 11-7 win in the opening game of their 12-game home stand at LoanMart Field.

After going just 3-9 up north on their previous swing, the Quakes busted out the big bats, blasting not only four round-trippers, but producing 17 hits on the night.

Sauryn Lao led the way, with his first four-hit game of the year, as he also had one of the four homers on the night, helping Rancho to their second straight win overall.

Trailing 2-0 before they ever came to bat, the Quakes evened the game at 2-2 in the second, then took the lead for good in the third, as Diego Cartaya (8th), Jonny DeLuca (9th) and Lao (8th) all went deep against Storm starter Jesus Lugo (0-2), giving them a 5-2 lead.

Eddys Leonard added on in the fourth, as he smashed a two-run shot, his eighth, making it 7-2.

The Storm would battle back, but would never get closer than three runs.

Julian Smith (3-4) was credited with the win in relief of Kendall Williams, as he went two scoreless innings. Williams allowed two runs in the first, but settled down to give Rancho three total innings.

Carlos Alejo got the final out of the eighth with the tying run at the plate, then worked a scoreless ninth for his second save of the year.

Rancho (27-27) will send Carlos Duran (1-2) to the mound against Storm right-hander Nick Thwaits (0-5) at 6:30pm on Wednesday in game two of the six-game series.

Wednesday is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, while Thursday is another Thirsty Thursday Promotion, with drink specials throughout the night.
