Quakes Falter in Extras

Modesto, CA – The Modesto Nuts scored twice in the tenth inning and ended Rancho Cucamonga’s seven-game winning streak with a 4-3 win over the Quakes on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.

Trent Tingelstad tied the game with an RBI single off Aldry Acosta and Robert Perez, Jr. followed with a sac fly, giving Modesto the walk-off win.

The Quakes took the lead in the top of the tenth inning, as Jose Ramos picked up his third hit of the game, a two-out RBI double off the wall in right field, scoring Marco Hernandez to give the Quakes a brief 3-2 lead.

Acosta (3-3) couldn’t hold the lead though, as Perez drove in his third run of the series with a deep fly ball to center, scoring Noelvi Marte to end the game.

Rancho trailed 2-0 in the sixth, before back-to-back RBI doubles by Jorbit Vivas and Alex DeJesus tied the game.

Quakes’ starter Jimmy Lewis tossed three scoreless frames, while Hyun-Il Choi allowed two runs over 4.1 innings of relief.

The Quakes (41-32) will look to get back on track on Thursday, sending Kendall Williams (3-1) to the bump, as he’ll take on Connor Phillips (4-3) at 7:05pm in game three of the series.

After this current 12-game road trip, the Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 3rd, taking on the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tuesday the 4th will be a Temblores Tuesday, presented by the Art Laboe Show Live. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
