San Jose, CA - The Quakes struggled offensively in San Jose on Friday night in a 3-0 loss to the Giants. Rancho was shut out for the fifth time this season, and the defeat extends their losing streak to eight.

In his first start since last weekend's Futures Game, 17-year-old Julio Urias tossed three shutout innings. He issued a leadoff walk to Jesus Galindo before retiring the next nine hitters he faced. Urias struck out three without giving up a hit, lowering his ERA to 3.25.

Rancho Cucamonga (18-10, 50-48) couldn't back Urias up. In the fourth inning, Gustavo Gomez (1-1, 3.86) was shaky in relief. San Jose (17-11, 51-47) scored twice on three hits against Gomez in the frame. An RBI double from Brandon Bednar and an RBI single from Brian Ragira gave the home team a 2-0 lead.

The Quakes struggled offensively all night. Rancho had just one hit in the game's first five innings against Kendry Flores (4-6, 4.34). Flores struck out five and gave up just two hits in six scoreless frames for the Giants.

Rancho loaded the bases in the sixth inning with two outs, but Kendry Flores induced a Chris Jacobs groundout to end the threat. The Quakes had three hits in the seventh against Tyler Rogers, but came up empty in that frame as well. Rancho left nine runners on and went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

Down 3-0 in the ninth inning, Rancho threatened against San Jose's Bryce Bandilla. Bandilla walked the bases loaded to put the tying runs aboard, but James Baldwin struck out to end the game. Baldwin struck out four times in the contest.

It was the fifth time this year that Rancho has been held scoreless. The Quakes have now lost eight games in a row on the heels of an 18-2 start to the Second Half.

After getting swept in San Jose, Rancho travels to Bakersfield for four games against the Blaze. Tom Windle (9-5, 4.23) gets the start for the Quakes in the team's first game of the year at Sam Lynn Ballpark against Bakersfield righty Daniel Wright (5-3, 4.47).
